The inaugural Toast to the Coast! festival was a huge day at Mindarie Marina where the Boardwalk came alive to celebrate all things tasty in the City of Wanneroo and surrounds. The event kicked off at 11am with over 6000 visitors enjoying the entertainment.

Visitors were able to sample and buy products from a range of suppliers including fresh produce from An Organic Experience, the delicious chocolate display from local business Chocolate Drops, Oils and olives from the Get Stuffed Olive Company in Gin Gin plus lots more.

One of the tasting highlights was the wine and beer marquee outside the new Brewery. With the perfect setting over looking the marina and a range of quality wines and Indian Ocean Brewhaus beer on hand to sample, the area soon became the hot spot for the day.

Food Guru Don Hancey ‘wowed’ the crowds with his culinary delights as he and fellow chef Peter Manifis, cooked up a storm on the Boardwalk using the local fresh seafood.

From the perfect BBQ’d Lobster, to a delicious seafood paella, the pair provided an entertaining and informative insight into a range of new seafood recipes.  They were also joined by local resident and Cray fisherman, Neil Dorrington who gave a local spin on the WA Fishing industry.

The Hip Mo Toast Jazz Quintet provided the perfect background music from the afternoon playing funky jazz and swing, before Darren Reid and the Soul City Groove took to the stage in a finale show that really got the crowd rocking at The Boat.

Kids were kept amused by a range of wandering entertainment and activities. From face painting, ginger bread making activities and a special appearance by Bananas the Clown and the Flute and Veg Duo.

See you all next year on the March Long weekend!
